Darien Police to Host Community Basketball Event Supporting Local Causes

The Darien Police will take to the court against Darien School faculty in a community basketball game on March 12 at 6:00 p.m. at Darien High School, bringing together law enforcement, educators, students, and residents for an evening focused on community connection and meaningful causes.

While the matchup promises friendly competition, the event is centered on raising awareness and support for several important initiatives impacting the Darien community and beyond.

A key focus of the evening will be youth mental health awareness. Community organizations Wave Strong and Shoulder Check will be on site, with Shoulder Check leading a brief pledge before the game to emphasize the importance of mental health support for young people.

In addition, the Darien School faculty team will be raising funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic disease that affects children. A donation table will be hosted by the parents of a Hindley Elementary School student who is living with the disease, giving attendees an opportunity to learn more and contribute directly to the cause.

The Darien Police team will also be making a donation to the Special Olympics, continuing its longstanding commitment to supporting inclusion, athletics, and opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Game-night activities will include a full officiating crew, clock operators, and announcers provided by the Darien Athletic Foundation (DAF), along with a 50/50 raffle and a halftime contest for attendees.

The Darien Police Association encourages the community to attend, cheer on both teams, and support the important causes highlighted throughout the evening.
